Mediterranean

If you can drag yourself away from the pool and fancy a day lazing on a Mediterranean beach, then jump in the car and within an hour you could be sitting on one of many beautiful wide sandy beaches. Gruissan, with its little chalets on stilts also has a charming old town filled will seafood restaurants and pavement cafés, while a little further south near the Spanish border is Collioure, a picturesque old fishing port. The coastal town of Sète famous for its oyster beds is a must to visit and during the summer months jousting tournaments are held there – on boats in the harbour. It’s hilarious. The kids will love it.
